I had the best time visiting schools with The Unfortunate Archibald Marble. The children were all bursting with creative ideas, so much so that they designed their own magical creatures for my new book, Blood Song. Jannah came up with a nine-tailed reindeer, a clever twist on the nine-tailed fox from Chinese mythology. I absolutely loved this idea and Jannah’s reindeer will makes her first appearance in Book one of Blood Song (we’ll see even more of her in Book two!). Scroll down for blurb and short extract.

London, 1899; the city you’ve read about in history books, but not quite. Lights flicker at the edge of sight, there one minute gone the next. In these ‘between'' spaces reside the Shadowblood: banished magical creatures, slipping slowly back into the human world. In this strange Victorian London, two very special children feel alone and unseen. When both are drawn into a plot to free the hidden world, their paths collide. As they face growing threats and unravel the truth about their pasts, Tala and Albion must navigate a journey of self-acceptance. But have they discovered who they truly are in time to stop an event that could change the world forever? - Blood Song, 9-12 years (62,000 words).
