Photography workshops and events for passionate enthusiasts and tomorrow’s visual story tellers.
Learn how to capture people and places in the diverse and dynamic East London landscape. These half-day photography courses are led by a qualified documentary photographer and exhibited photographic artist, who also has 15 years of experience working with children and is fully CRB checked. See below for workshop outlines:
Teens 12 + Street photography – Brick Lane:
Brick Lane is a colourful and dynamic landscape; home to contemporary fashion, historic architecture and diverse culture. Beginning with a short lecture on urban documentary photography, we then head out onto the streets for a practical demonstration of the techniques involved. We will explore the back streets of Spitalfields as well as Brick Lane itself. Students are encouraged to look past the obvious to really see what is out there, combining trusted techniques with personal vision. After a group discussion on the photographs taken, students can move forward with the confidence to shoot independently and the ability to assess their own work more critically.
Saturdays and school holidays 1 – 5pm
Meeting point at Café 1001, 91 Brick Lane, E1 6QL
What you need to bring:
Camera – The technical component will be secondary to the more creative applications of composition and viewpoint, therefore any type of camera can be used. However, depending on the overall group level we may touch upon more technical aspects of photography, where a more advanced (Bridge or SLR) camera would be most useful. You can contact me with any questions you may have about this.
Cost: £45 per person (10% discount for siblings)
Max of 6 in a group (always fully supervised).
The initial lecture will take place inside a Brick Lane café, so students will need to bring money for their own drink/snack.
